Note from the Principal, Mrs. Jackson
Happy Thanksgiving, Lynbrook!
This fall has passed without our traditional events. The freshmen have still not had their first day at Lynbrook, and distance learning will continue through the first six weeks of the second semester. This is not the news any of us wanted, but it will provide the safest environment for students and staff. I am so thankful for the enduring patience and efforts of the students, the outstanding work of our faculty, and the support of our community. We may be virtual, but Lynbrook remains a special place. The Viking magic is not confined to campus.
Gratitude is not granted it is cultivated. Gratitude grows when we water our minds and hearts with hope and remember the special moments of our lives. Gratitude does not deny dark days and struggle but gets us through them. Many of us will have a smaller more subdued Thanksgiving celebration. On Thursday, cultivate gratitude by remembering that a quiet Thanksgiving is an act of kindness to everyone. Our sacrifice this year will make our joy next year more profound.
Feeling grateful for our Viking community! Mrs. Jackson
Opportunity Week While in remote learning, Finals Week has been replaced with Opportunity Week. Many classes will not be giving finals in the traditional sense. This is a week for culminating activities and for students to have time to work on projects, meet with a teacher to submit outstanding work, or study for in-class assessments. To accommodate these goals, the class meetings will be 90 minutes, but no more than two classes will meet a day. There is time in the afternoon for extended time to meet with teachers or study. Details regarding Enrichment time are coming soon. The Gift of Music to make your day! Here is a dose of school spirit compliments of the Lynbrook Wind Ensemble.
