Math Honors Society - Six Lynbrook students qualified for the annual USA Math Olympiad — with three qualifying for the junior level, and three for the senior level — after taking the American Mathematics Competition (AMC) and American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME) tests. They are six among a total of 558 students from all across the nation who qualified. There were over 2000 students from across the state competing in various events — some as individuals and some as team events. Students were tasked with preparing presentations, taking exams, and partaking in role plays in front of industry judges. Lynbrook had 43 students place in the top 10 list for their even. Twenty-four have qualified for the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) held in Orlando, Florida in late April, and several more are expected to be invited. In addition, we had a team of three students place 1st in an Unreal Challenge competition, earning the team $1500. All students did a fantastic job studying and preparing for their events and should be commended. Below is a list of attendees. State Speech Tournament - Congratulations to Vansh Mathur for qualifying for the 2023 California State Speech Tournament in Carlsbad, CA in April. At the State Quals, Vansh had the distinction of being a double-qualifier, placing in two events: Original Oratory and International Extemporaneous. Although he is eligible for two events, California State rules limit a student to competing in only one event at the State Tournament. He has chosen Original Oratory. Congratulations to Vansh for his double qualification and for taking his Original Oratory to the California State Speech Tournament.
A Note from Principal Jackson
