Advisory Assembly Presentations in January
At Lynbrook, students are prepared for future academic pursuits and for life beyond high school. We want our students to develop what we call the 4C's. Students learn the skills of communication, creative-critical thinking, collaboration, and good citizenship. Students learn the 4C's in many ways. During Advisory, ten times a year, there are schoolwide sessions focused on mental, physical, and social wellness. On Friday, January 13, 2023, Lynbrook will have two special presentations during an Advisory Assembly. Mike Domitrz, from Center for Respect, will return to Lynbrook for the third time and speak in two sessions, one for 9th graders and one for 12th graders. The sophomores and juniors previously attended a presentation by Mr. Domitrz. This year, the 10th and 11th grade students will attend a talk on the relationship of sleep and performance, by Cheri Mah, MD, MS.
Friday, January 13, 2023 Advisory Assemblies
Ninth-grade students will attend the "Safer Choices" presentation. The Center for Respect reports that, "'SAFER Choices' is one of the most inclusive and sought-after school assemblies for creating a safe, age appropriate look at consent, respect in relationships, boundaries, bystander intervention, and working to reduce sexual assault." The seniors will attend "Let's Talk." This presentation will be focused on establishing healthy relationships and boundaries. The session will be driven by the questions students submit in advance and ones that are asked during the live session. Given the open format, this presentation is for seniors only. We are expecting mature and respectful interactions.
The juniors and sophomores will learn about the importance of sleep. Cheri Mah, MS, MD is a researcher at the Stanford Sleep Disorders Clinic and Research Laboratory. Her research focuses on the relationship between sleep and performance, with a specific emphasis on the impact of sleep extension on athletic performance, mood, and recovery.
Thursday, January 12, 2023, 7:00-8:00 PM- FOR PARENTS & GUARDIANS

Many thanks to PTSA for covering the cost to have Mike Domitrz with us again, which includes the additional parent evening event. Thank you to Lynbrook Excellence in Education for covering the speaker fees for the sleep specialist, Dr. Cheri Mah.
