News & Information No School 11/11/22 - In observance of Veterans Day, there will be no school on Friday, November 11th. Please review the modified bell schedule for November 7-10 with block schedule each day. USA Biology Olympiad - The last chance to sign up for the USA Biology Olympiad will be Wednesday, November 9th during brunch in Ms. Loia's room 305. Signups are first-come-first-serve and require a $5 fee. IDC Exchange - Intradistrict Council (IDC) Exchange will be held at Lynbrook on Friday, November 18th. Students who would like to host another student from the other 4 schools in our district (Fremont, Homestead, Monta Vista, and Cupertino), must fill out the form at tinyurl.com/lhs-at-lhs. Hosting will consist of: meeting your shadow student, taking them around campus, giving them a fantastic Lynbrook experience, taking them to the rally, and being with them until lunch. STTAR Tutor Program - Students who would like to improve their grade in a particular subject may request a STTAR tutor. By starting tutoring early in the school year, students will be better able to keep up with their coursework and will be more confident in the subject matter. Homework Center - Students may drop in to Homework Center after school in the Library and get started on assignments. Student tutors are available until 4:45pm on Homework Center days. | PTSA Association Meeting Tuesday, November 8, 2022 7 PM National PTA has a long-standing commitment to arts education. The Reflections program provides opportunities for recognition and access to the arts which boost student confidence and success in the arts and in life. Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-selected theme. This 50+ year-old program helps them explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life. Attend the LHS PTSA meeting on Tuesday, November 8 at 7pm to cheer on our Reflections Arts winners and to learn more about the activity, projects and news of the Lynbrook PTSA. Marching Band & Color Guard - The Lynbrook Marching Band and Color Guard recently took First Place in the 4A Class at the Sierra Cup Classic in Fresno, winning High Music and High Visual. Wowing the audience and judges with their stunning performance, they advanced to the Finals and tied for 4th place, edging out bigger bands at the competition. Their unyielding spirit and positive energy epitomize their theme, The Summit, throughout the season. Best of luck to our MBCG as they enter their final competition at the WBA NorCal Super Show on November 5! Cross Country - On November 1st, the Lynbrook cross country team competed at league finals on a 2.95mile course at Crystal Springs. Starting off the day, Freshmen Diya Shah took 10th and finished All League for our JVGirls team with a time of 25:12. Lynbrook Frosh Soph Boys took first overall as a team with Nathan Kato, Steve Yang & Austin Shu taking 1-2-3 with times of 17:51,17:55, and 18:01 respectively. Also with an All league finish in 10th was Harold Wang with a time of 18:23. Our Varsity Girls of Annie Peng, Lily Fang, Patricia Chang, Sadhvi Narayanan, Jennifer Chua, & Nithya Kanagala qualified for the CCS meet next Saturday November 12th. The team was led by Annie Peng & Lily Fang finishing 6th & 7th in 19:58 & 20:19. Patricia Chang also received the Sportsmanship Award for Varsity Girls. Our Varsity Boys of Adarsh Iyer, Kevin Yang, Vijay, Krishnamoorthy, Aiden Kato, Nicholas Kong, Adit Kantak, David Olmo Marchal, & Andrew Peng qualified also qualified for the CCS meet next Saturday. They had 4 members with All League honors, Adarsh Iyer (6th, 16:12), Kevin Yang (13th, 16:48), Aiden Kato (14th, 16:57), and Nicholas Kong (15th, 17:05). |

A Note from Principal Jackson Hello, Lynbrook! Fall Sports Wrap-up Girls' Varsity Volleyball lost to Aragon High School in their CCS Semifinal match on Thursday, 11/3/22. The sets were close and the team fought hard. It was a tough loss, but they had a great season. The football team has their last game tonight at Saratoga High School. The Boys' and Girls' Varsity Cross Country teams are going to CCS meet at Crystal Springs on 11/12/22. Congratulations, to the Boys' Frosh/soph Cross Country team who finished on top of their league. Girls' Varsity Golf finished fifth out of sixteen schools in CCS. We are waiting to hear about the seeding for Girls' Varsity Tennis in the CCS tournament. The Field Hockey and Water Polo teams have completed their league play for 2022. Short Week Monday 11/7 is a block day schedule. We will have four block days and with Friday off. Progress Grading Period Closes 11/10 The second grading period of the first semester closes on Thursday. Official Grade Reports will be posted in Infinite Campus on Friday,11/18. |
