Homecoming 2022 A friendly reminder from Lynbrook ASB: Calling all VIKINGS! Homecoming is just around the corner and your class still needs all the help they can get! To get involved and support your class, you can come out to your class's decs meetings (refer to the calendar and social media links below for more info). If you aren't already aware, Homecoming is our largest annual school event. In fact, we have the BEST Homecoming out of all the schools in our district. Homecoming involves each class creating a skit, backdrop, and a collection of planter decorations, as well as choreographing multiple dances. The Homecoming week leads up to our Homecoming game (this year against Woodside), at which our whole school will cheer on the football team to victory! There are so many more aspects of Homecoming that are not mentioned here, so make sure to look out for the ASB Homecoming Week graphic for more information! Congratulations Mock Trial - Lynbrook's Mock Trial team placed 7th at the Empire Classic Tournament in Baltimore, Maryland last month, their first in-person competition in four years. Lynbrook Mock Trial competed against 27 teams from the U.S. and Canada in the prestigious Empire tournament, their first out of state tournament. For Empire, the team prepared intensely for months, first by reading the case based on the Hawaii False Missile Alert of 2018. They brainstormed themes, or one-liners that summed up all the arguments and theories, or a timeline of what transpired over the course of the case. Read more in-depth coverage of the event at lhsepic.com. The team is now preparing for a tournament hosted by the Constitutional Rights Foundation. Good luck! |

A Note from Principal Jackson Hello, Lynbrook! LHS Staff Skit The staff kicked-off Homecoming Week with their Mushroom Kingdom skit performed in the quad. Under the direction of Dr. Brittany Stevens and Mr. Jeff Bale, the faculty jumped into their Mario karts to entertain the students. It is always a blast to play to a packed quad. We were thrilled to have Superintendent Graham Clark, Associate Superintendents Trudy Gross and Tom Avvakumovits, FUHSD Board Member Jeff Moe, and additional guests from the district office in the crowd. Thank you, students for coming out to cheer on the staff. The photos of the event can be viewed online. Homecoming Week Fictional Frontiers Students have been working hard in preparation for a memorable Homecoming Week October 18-22. The week's schedule will include class skits during an extended brunch each day, a lunchtime rally & football game on Friday, and the first Homecoming Dance in three years on Saturday. Parents, We Need Your Help The school district is happy to provide free meals at brunch and lunch to all students. Student MUST have their student ID with them to keep the line moving and to properly track the number of meals served. The students at all the other schools are bringing their cards as required. Many Lynbrook students are NOT cooperating. Students are still relying on keypads to manually enter their numbers. If students don't show their IDs or have the current ID pictured on their phone for scanning when the come to the cafe door, they may be sent to the end of the line. Parents, you can help us and help your student by reminding them to have their student IDs with them at all times at school. You are invited-The next Virtual Coffee & Chat with the Principal is October 26, 2022. Please RSVP through Eventbrite. HAPPY HOMECOMING! GO VIKES! Mrs. Maria Jackson Principal |
