A Note from Principal Jackson Hello, Vikings! The first week of school went very smoothly. We appreciate that drivers followed directions and helped the staff keep the drop-off areas moving. There were a few students on bikes who speedily rode through the parking lot between cars. Riding bikes through the parking lot is very dangerous. We will do what we can to educate students of the risk and we thank drivers for using extreme caution while navigating their way through the parking lot before and after school. The information below describes Inside Tutorial, Open Tutorial and Advisory periods at Lynbrook. It is essential that students understand the expectations for tutorial and advisory. |

Inside Tutorial, Open Tutorial & Advisory Tutorial is instructional time that is built into the schedule for students to seek help from teachers, receive school information, and access academic and social-emotional support. There will be occasions when tutorial time will be dedicated to drills, safety presentations, special advisories, and other administrative necessities. Tutorials are designed for academic and constructive activities, for example… - Completing make-up work and tests
- Getting extra help from teachers
- STTAR tutoring
- Working on group projects
- Study
- Homework
- Legislative Council meetings (club meetings are not allowed)
- Lesson review and additional support
- Revision and redemption opportunities, if offered by the teacher
- Student technology support
- Stress management/social-emotional activities
- Administrative/counselor/school therapist appointments
- Accessing school resources
- Sharing information from Guidance Counselors, Mental Health Staff, and Administrators
Teachers and support staff are available in their regular work areas to assist students. Classrooms will be open and supervised during all tutorials. Mondays - Inside Tutorial (25 minutes) On Mondays, students must be in ONE classroom for the full 25 minutes. They may go to a classroom of their choice. Shortly after the tardy bell, there will be announcements. Students may be directed to resources in their Schoology grade level hub. As is current practice, teachers will have students be quiet and listen to the PA announcements. Students are not required to access the resources during that tutorial. Following the announcements, students will remain in the room to study or receive help from the teacher. - Students will have the 5-minute passing period to choose a classroom and sit down.
- Once all seats are taken, the classroom is considered filled.
- Students cannot join a full classroom.
- Students will remain in the same classroom during Inside Tutorial.
- Students found wandering campus during Inside Tutorial will be taken to the theater by an administrator.

Advisory (Select Fridays remain in 4th-period classroom during tutorial) Advisory a day when the whole school focuses on the same thing at the same time. Ten times a year the activity will be guided by a teacher. There will be 5 districtwide advisory lessons. Schools can add 5 more advisory activities for a total of 10. The advisory presentations and activities will occur on Fridays after 4th period. When the bell ending 4th-period rings, students can use the 5-minute passing period to use the restroom or stretch their legs. They will then return to their 4th-period classroom for Advisory, and attendance will be retaken. 2022-23 Monday Inside Tutorial & Friday Advisory Schedule (This information may help with your planning) Virtual Back-to-School Night All of the five Fremont Union High School District will have Virtual Back-to-School Nights. On September 8, 2022 following the welcome and information session at 6 PM, parents will be able to log into Schoology and view videos for each of their student's courses.
