Dear Senior Prom attendees and parents/guardians,
Seniors and their prom guests are preparing for the special event on the Hornblower yacht tomorrow evening. We are excited that our students and guests will have this special night, but we want you to know of recent unavoidable and unforeseen changes that the Hornblower yacht company has made.
A few weeks ago, we were informed by the yacht company that the boat we had rented was no longer available, and we would be placed on a larger boat (a boat with three floors as opposed to the two in our original booking). However, today, we were also informed that another boat, which was to be the location of prom for another high school outside our District, is out of service due to mechanical problems and that the first floor of our boat would host this other school, with Lynbrook on floors 2 and 3. While school and District administrators have been in conversation with the Hornblower management about our concerns with two schools being on the same boat, the company is moving forward with that plan. We have been assured that there will be no access between the first floor and the two upper floors occupied by Lynbrook, and there will be security on the boat to ensure this will not occur. The company will follow its COVID safety protocols.
We feel it is very important to let you know about the changes made by the company. We understand that people may be uncomfortable with these new unavoidable circumstances. Should an attendee decide to cancel, there will be a full refund of the prom ticket cost. Persons who no longer want to attend need to email Assistant Principal Yukari Salazar (yukari_salazar@fuhsd.org ) by 1 PM on Saturday, May 14, 2022.
We apologize for the unavoidable and unforeseen events. We wish a happy and safe prom to those who do participate.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Maria Jackson
Principal
