Dear FUHSD Community,
This spring, FUHSD students will participate in the state assessment system, the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). Details about Lynbrook's testing schedule are included in this link: Lynbrook HS 2022 CAASPP Schedule.
As part of CAASPP testing, current juniors will take the Smarter Balanced computer-based tests in English-Language Arts and math, which are aligned to the Common Core State Standards. These tests are used to determine college readiness for the Early Assessment Program, and students will have the option to release their scores to the California State University and California Community College systems, as well as other colleges and universities across the nation. Students in grade 11 will take both the CAASPP test as well as the CAST (California Science Test). Students in grade 12 will take the CAST test only.
Our goal is to have 100% of our students participate in their grade level tests this spring. However, if you choose to exempt your child from taking the CAASPP tests, you must submit your request in writing to your school's testing coordinator (California Education Code 60615). Your student's participation and best effort on these tests is important to our schools and your student's teachers, ensuring they are provided with critical information about our students' academic progress and our instructional programs. These results also help us determine resources needed to better support our students and teachers.
Spring 2022 results for 11th graders taking the English-Language Arts and Mathematics tests will become available in late summer and individual score reports will be made available through Infinite Campus so that you can see how your student is progressing toward being college and career ready. Your student may also use these results to qualify for recognition such as the Seal of Biliteracy or the Golden State Seal Merit Diploma as a graduating senior.
Additional information about CAASPP can be obtained from your school's website and on the CDE's CAASPP site Student and Parents tab (http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/ca).
It is a privilege for us to teach the students of the Fremont Union High School District. We greatly appreciate your support of our students and schools.
In partnership with you,
Polly Bove
FUHSD Superintendent
