Dear FUHSD parents and families,
As we previously shared with our staff who are coordinating and leading school field trips, we are happy to announce that the decision has been made to allow overnight and out of state or country field trips during second semester. While we are hopeful that all planned trips and conferences will now be able to move forward as planned, it is still important that we reinforce with all students and families that district staff will continue to monitor public health guidelines and any changes related to the pandemic that could impact whether a trip occurs or not. We are working closely with staff involved in field trip planning to carefully review cancellation policies associated with any trip, as we know that the situation here, in other areas of the country and/or outside the US can change at any time. It will also be critical for all staff, students and families be aware of and comply with the local health requirements of other cities, states and/or jurisdictions and the various facilities that will be visited during these trips.
Following consultation with our local public health department partners, we will be requiring that all students and staff members attending an overnight or out of state or country field trip be vaccinated. As participation in all field trips is voluntary, and requires shared accommodation between students where masks will not be able to be worn at all times, we have determined that this safety precaution is in the best interest of our school community at this time. A medical exemption will be allowed for students that are unable to be vaccinated for medical reasons, with a requirement to test for COVID-19 72 hours before the field trip departure. Families with children who may qualify for a medical exemption should contact the COVID-19 Designee for their site:
Should you have other questions, please contact our District COVID-19 Designee Trudy Gross, Associate Superintendent, at trudy_gross@fuhsd.org OR 408-522-2203.

- Cupertino High School: Steve Puccinelli, Assistant Principal steven_puccinelli@fuhsd.org, 408-366-7374
- Fremont High School: Paula Mockler, Dean paula_mockler@fuhsd.org, 408-522-2489
