Note from Principal Jackson
Hello Lynbrook Families,
The official countdown has begun! There are eight school days until summer break. Students, don't wait until the last minute to get your work submitted to teachers. If you have questions about grades and missing work, ask your teachers now. Teachers will be away for the summer after June 4, 2021, and they are not expected to check email until their return on August 12, 2021. If you have questions for guidance counselors, reach out now. They, too, will be off from June 4, 2021- August 12, 2021.
As many of you know, we are planning for a full reopening of school in August. We do not expect that safety guidelines will necessitate remote or hybrid learning. The year and a half in remote learning has been a challenge for students, parents, and staff, but in the midst of the challenges, we have learned to leverage online tools to reach out to more people. Zoom is an effective meeting venue for evening meetings. Next year, I will have some principal's evening coffee's virtually and some in person. The convenience of a virtual meeting is nice, and on the other hand, in-person meetings provide a social aspect that is lost online. The large evening guidance presentations will be through Zoom next year. This will be helpful for working parents, families with younger children, and the capacity is not limited by the size of the buildings on campus.
The athletic seasons continue. We have had a few teams make it into post-season playoffs, and other teams are in the final week of games. Having so many sports running simultaneously is tough to schedule, but it has been worth the effort when we watch the student-athletes practice and compete. Now that Santa Clara County is in the yellow tier, the updated county directive states there is no longer a requirement of any kind for routine testing for athletics. At Lynbrook, we will continue testing athletes through Wednesday, May 26. A HUGE thanks to our Athletic Director, Jennifer Griffin and Athletic Trainer, Katie Newbolt for all their efforts in supporting the testing process.
The final Virtual Principal's Coffee is on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, from 7-8 PM. Register to join me in Zoom for this event.
