Note from the Principal, Mrs. Jackson
Hello, Lynbrook!
Remote Learning Update On Friday, an email was sent to all FUHSD families announcing that we would be remaining in remote learning through April 9, 2021.Under the State's updated COVID-19 and Reopening In-Person Instruction Framework & Public Health Guidance for K-12 Schools, schools located in counties within the Purple Tier cannot reopen for in-person instruction for grades 7-12. For that reason, all FUHSD schools will remain in distance learning through the next seven weeks of the semester (until April 9). Spring Break begins on April 12, 2021.
We are hopeful that teachers and school staff will be vaccinated in the coming weeks; however, at this time we have not seen a specific plan or been provided with definitive information from the County Public Health Department on when that might occur.
Athletics Update Season 1 of the SCVAL Athletics seasons began on February 1 with practices, and competition is scheduled to start on February 15, 2021. Swimming and Diving, have a bit of delay due to pool repairs and preparation, but if the pool is ready they will have access on Monday, February 8.
There are special COVID-19 guidelines that must be followed. These guidelines will affect athletic competition, the number of athletes in a grouping, and spectators at events. Competition schedules are currently being finalized. The Athletic Director, Jennifer Griffin, will provide details to coaches, athletes, and parents when she receives them. Athletes are encouraged to participate in conditioning when it begins for their sport. When seasons begin, athletes expecting to earn PE Athletics credit must attend practices and athletic competitions.
It is very important that coaches and athletes follow all of the safety measures (masks, etc.). At this time there are NO spectators allowed to attend athletic events. I understand that this may be very disappointing to some people. For the safety of the athletes, coaches and the community, we must strictly adhere to the no spectators rule. We feel very fortunate to be opening the athletic seasons. We don't want to do anything to jeopardize this. I appreciate your cooperation to ensure that our athletes can enter into the joy of team sports.
GO VIKES! Mrs. Jackson

Poet Chunky Black's poem is among Huff Post's "9 Dynamic Poems You Need To Hear This Black History Month." Chunky captures the magic of his mother and describes the strength of his father. Congratulations and best of luck in their next competition: The Berkeley/Stanford Golden Gate Invitational. LHS delegation shines at MUN
The weekend of January 30, 2021, the Lynbrook Model UN club participated at the Santa Clara Valley Model UN Virtual Conference. The LHS delegation represented the country of Malaysia. Our delegation won 19 awards overall, including three students who won outstanding delegate (the highest award possible for that individual committee). Several of these students had never participated in this kind of public speaking event, so to not only be courageous enough to participate but also win an award is quite an achievement.
Here is the list of award winners:
