Friday, Dec. 4, 2020 Issue 82 The Week Ahead The new Gym Lobby and the top of the quad are complete. Now is the time to add the special touches that will make this space spectacular. Your contributions are making the spectacular happen! In partnership with the PTSA & Lynbrook Excellence in Education, two LED laser projectors will be installed in the gym. PTSA donations are funding a live-action viewing system, so the action on the court can be viewed on the large screen in the lobby. To highlight Vikings current and past, be sure to view the Wall of Fame touchscreen mounted in the lobby that was supported by PTSA. Note from the Principal, Mrs. Jackson Hello Lynbrook!
As was noted above, on Wednesday, December 9, our school is bringing the powerful educational program "SAFER Choices" presented by Mike Dormitz from The Center for Respect to Lynbrook.
All students in the FUHSD will attend these assemblies because the reality is that today's students face a sexualized culture where dangerous behaviors regarding intimacy, alcohol, drugs, sexting, and "hooking up" are continually promoted. Schools throughout the country are seeing cases of sexual misconduct – including sexual assault cases among their students.
To protect our students, we want to be proactive and educate them to protect themselves. We want our students to understand their rights and responsibilities, so they can stay safe, keep their friends safe, and form respectful relationships,
Parents, educators, and community members throughout the country and from all walks of life (cultural, faith, socio-economic) praise this educational program for creating significant change in students' ability to make safer, wiser, respectful choices. Dormitz has been quoted in major publications such as The Wall Street Journal and was a featured expert on Dateline NBC's "My Kid Would Never Do That" series. To learn more about The Center for Respect and Mike Domitrz visit their website.
