On this day in 1952, “Charlotte’s Web” by E.B. White and illustrated by Garth Williams was first published by Harper & Brothers.  E.B. White wrote Charlotte's Web as a simple story to express his love of animals and nature, his childhood experiences, and his life on a farm in Maine.

If you answered YES to both of these questions, then the STTAR Tutor program needs YOU! Vike Pounds - Hey Vikings!  Vike Pounds, the classic Lynbrook spirit shirts with a customizable back, are being sold this week at lunch in the Quad! Sales will continue at lunch every day until this Friday. Vike pounds will be sold for $15 for up to 12 characters on the back of the shirt including spaces, and each extra letter will cost one additional dollar.
See you in the Quad during lunch!

ASB or ID student card replacement fee - Due to unprecedented requests for replacement of cards, effective immediately, the usual $5 charge for replacement is being re-instated. Please safeguard your cards. The exception is for those whose card is wrong.

Clubs:

Synopsis Science Fair - Do you have questions you would like to research or problems you would like to solve? Would you like a chance to present your idea to Nobel laureates and our nation's leaders? Then join the Synopsys science fair today! Talk to Mr. Leung in Room 302. If you have already joined the Lynbrook Research Schoology, application forms are due October 31st on a rolling deadline.

Aletheia - How does Lynbrook’s learning environment impact your life? Do you find yourself comparing and competing with others or collaborating and connecting with them? Aletheia is currently open for submissions for our first issue of the year, Compare, Compete, Collab, Connect, at lhsaletheia.com/submit. Submissions are due by Sunday, November 7th. Aletheia is a student-run publication that facilitates communication on prevalent but often unspoken issues within the Lynbrook community. All submissions will be anonymous and students are encouraged to submit their experiences.

ATHLETICS:

Girls Soccer:  Girls Varsity and JV soccer tryouts will be held Monday, November 1, 2021 through Friday, November 5, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm on Stober field. If you plan to participate, please bring cleats, shin guards and water to the tryouts. Girls Soccer Interest Meeting:  If you're interested in trying out for Girls Soccer this season, come join us in the PE classroom next Wednesday, October 20, at the beginning of lunch for a mandatory Girls Soccer interest meeting!

Field Hockey Senior Night!: Come to Girls’ Field Hockey Senior Night TODAY after school and cheer on the seniors! The JV game will begin at 5, the ceremony at 6:30 and the varsity game at 7!
