On this day in 1888 the National Geographic Society is founded in Washington, D.C., for “the increase and diffusion of geographical knowledge.” The 33 men who originally met and formed the National Geographic Society were a diverse group of geographers, explorers, teachers, lawyers, cartographers, military officers and financiers. All shared an interest in scientific and geographical knowledge.

Job Shadow Registration: The 2020 Lynbrook High School Job Shadow Program is starting soon. In order to participate, all students must fill out and submit their Job Shadow registration forms, which can be found on the lhsjobshadow.org website. All forms must be printed out, filled in, signed by parents/guardians and submitted in person at the Library Conference room from January 27-31, 2020 during brunch or lunch. APLAC Diagnostics: Greetings LHS 10th-graders! If you are thinking about enrolling in A.P. Language and Composition (APLAC) next year, you must take the annual APLAC Diagnostic. The Diagnostic will help you to decide whether APLAC is a good course for you. The test will take place on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 7:35 AM in the LHS cafeteria. Sign up for it in the student portal of the LHS website. Please register by Monday, January 27 at 3:30 PM.

Vikings Cheer Clinic: Come support your Lynbrook Cheer Team! We will be hosting a cheer clinic on Monday, Feb 10, Tuesday, Feb 11 from 4-6:30pm & will be performing on Weds, Feb 12th during halftime @ LHS Basketball Game!! Each participant will receive a custom T-shirt and Bow. No experience required! All girls/boys grades 6-12 welcome. Cost is $50.
