On this day in 1932, Hattie W. Caraway became the first woman elected to the United States Senate. In her 13 years in the Senate, she was the first woman to preside over the Senate and the first to serve as a committee chairman. Caraway supported the New Deal and other legislation of the Franklin D. Roosevelt administration, veterans, and organized labor. She opposed isolationism. In 1943, she cosponsored the Equal Rights Amendment.

Spring Drama Play Auditions - Studio 74 presents spring show auditions. "Rumors" is a farcical comedy play by Neil Simon about a group of upper-class couples who gather for a 10th-anniversary party, only to find the hosts missing and themselves in a chaotic situation involving a gunshot, a car crash, and escalating lies.
