On this day in 1777, Lancaster, Pennsylvania became the capital of the American colonies.  During the American Revolution, the Continental Congress, having fled British forces who had captured Philadelphia, held a session in Lancaster, Pennsylvania making the city the capital of the American colonies for one day.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

American Mathematics Competition Sign Ups - Sign ups for the upcoming AMC 10/12 competitions are now open! AMC 10/12A will happen on November 8th, 2023, and AMC 10/12B will happen on November 14th, 2023. This is open only for LHS Students. Please register and pay online at the ASB student store, Lynbrook.myschoolcentral.com. The fees are $10 per exam, and the deadline for registering for both contests is September 29th. https://maa.org/math-competitions/amc-1012

AP Exam Registration – Registration for AP Exams is now open.  The exam fee is $120 for regular format exams and $130 for special format (World Language, Music Theory, Studio Art) exams. There will be no late registration, so students will need to plan carefully. AP exams will take place from May 6-17, 2024. Please purchase your exams online through your Infinite Campus portal. If paying in person bring cash or check payable to FUHSD to the ASB Office. Last day to pay is Friday September 29th.   

PTSA Reflections - Announcing the Reflections Art Program 2023-2024! Unleash your creative talents, express yourself, experience the fun and joy of making art, tap into your critical-thinking skills to create art inspired by the annual theme - “I am Hopeful Because .....”. The categories are: Dance Choreography, Literature, Photography, Film Production, Music Composition and Visual Arts. Homework Center – Homework Center is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays when the last class of the day ends until 5:00 pm in the library. You can work independently on your assignments or get help if needed. Drop in and let us help you build healthy study habits for a successful year!

Night on the Quad Donations - Hey, Lynbrook! As PTSA’s Night on the Quad approaches on September 28th, Indesign, Lynbrook’s only fashion club on campus, is requesting donations for any used clothing or fabric. Indesign and the 3D Design classes at Lynbrook heavily utilize clothing donations to create wearable sculptures and clothing, and we’d appreciate any clothing or fabric donated to our booth.

 

SPORTS: 

Girls Soccer Conditioning - If you are interested in getting a head start for soccer this Winter, JV girls coach Claus Strand will be hosting conditioning Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:30-5:30 pm through the end of October.
