On this day in 1865, the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution was ratified by the required 27 of the then 36 states.  The amendment abolished slavery and involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for a crime.  The 13th Amendment, along with the 14th and 15th, is one of the trio of Civil War amendments that greatly expanded the civil rights of Americans.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Lost and Found - Are you missing a water bottle, jacket, or lunch box? Check the lost and found located in the back of the GSS office by Wednesday, December 11. All unclaimed items will be donated.

Winter Concerts - Feel the spirit of the season at the Winter Concerts on December 11 and 12 at 7:00pm.  Wednesday night features the Choral Union, B Choir. Viking Vocalists, String Orchestra, Mixed Choir and Symphonic Orchestra.  Thursday night features the Choral Union, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra, the Dolcissima Advanced Treble Choir and the Symphonic Orchestra. Tickets are $5 and available in the student store online and at the door.

Commemorative Bricks - Order your commemorative brick or tile!  A perfect way to show your Viking pride! Homework Center Closed Finals Week – Homework Center is open in the library on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after school ends until 5:00 pm.  Students can work independently on their assignments or get help from Student Tutors if needed.  Attending Homework Center can help students build healthy study habits for a successful year! Yearbook Class of 2025 Signing Event - Hi Seniors! This is Valhalla Yearbook inviting you all to the Class of 2025 Signing Out event. Come out to the quad this Friday on December 6, 2024 to sign your name on a poster which will make its way into the book. Signatures will be accepted all day: brunch or lunch. Please make sure to bring an id, or any confirmation that you are a senior. Again, it's this Friday at the quad! We hope to see you then!

2026 Winter Study Session – Attention Class of 2026! Your Class Officers are holding a finals study session on Friday, December 13th from 3-6pm in the Cafeteria! There will be food, free study guides, and tutors for Junior subjects. Please contact Vihaan, Lisa, Tanush, Audrey, or Kartik if you have any questions.

Winter Book Match - Winter Break Book Match - The LHS Librarians and the Students for Literacy Club are excited to help you find the perfect book to curl up with over Winter Break!
