STTAR Tutor Program - Do you want to improve your grade in a particular class?  If you are receiving a "B" grade or below, request a STTAR tutor and we will match you with a student tutor based on your subject need and your availability. STTAR tutors generally tutor during Tutorial, Lunch, 7th period and after school. On the LHS webpage go to the Student portal, click on "Additional Links" and you will see the "STTAR Tutoring" button on the right side.  Download and complete a STTAR Tutor Request Form then turn it in. The Cupertino Chamber will be hosting the 2018 Bay Area Diwali Festival on October 13th from 11 am to 6 pm. We are looking for high school students to volunteer at the event. Students can sign up to volunteer go to http://signup.com/go/aoNbeEh

Today in History:  On this day in 1926 -Henry Ford announces an 8 hour, 5-day work week.  The decision to reduce the work week from six to five was made by Edsel Ford, Henry’s son and the company’s president, he explained that “Every man needs more than one day a week for rest and recreation.  The Ford Company always has sought to promote an ideal home life for its employees. We believe that in order to live properly every man should have more time to spend with his family.”

Today in History:  On this day in 1881, Chester A. Arthur was sworn in as the 21st President of the United States.  Arthur had a long involvement with New York Republican party, and became James Garfield's vice president. After a year-and-a-half he became president after Garfield was assassinated.

The first hour is for students only; during that time there is a parent information session from 6-7 PM.  Go early and take advantage of this opportunity to speak with representatives from nearly 100 colleges. Please go to the LHS website and print out a list of colleges and a campus map before you go to the fair.

PSAT - The PSAT will be given at Lynbrook on Saturday, October 13th at 7:30AM. Registration for juniors begins on Tue. Sept. 4th. Registration for sophomores begins on Tue. Sept. 11th.  Registration ends on Tue. Sept. 18th. This exam is not open to Freshman or any students outside of Lynbrook. You register in the ASB office with Mrs. Boehm. Registration is non-refundable and costs $30.00. Student must bring Student ID. Please make checks payable to FUHSD.

Today in History:  On this day in 1787, members of the Constitutional Convention signed the final draft of the Constitution.  Edmund Randolph called for another convention to carefully review the Constitution as it stood. This motion, supported by George Mason and Elbridge Gerry, was voted down and the Constitution was adopted.

District College Fair: The District College Fair is on Thursday evening at Homestead High School from 6-8 PM.  This is open to students in all grades. The first hour is for students only; during that time there is a parent information session from 6-7 PM.  Go early and take advantage of this opportunity to speak with representatives from nearly 100 colleges. Please go to the LHS website and print out a list of colleges and a campus map before you go to the fair.

This piece of legislation became one of the most extensive of carbon dioxide fume regulation documents in the U.S.A. that was drafted into law. Closed Campus Reminder: A reminder to all students- Lynbrook is a closed campus, except during lunch hour. This means you cannot leave campus during tutorial or brunch or if you have a hole in your schedule. Student Parking: A current 2018-2019 student parking pass must be displayed in a student vehicle that is parked in the LHS student parking lot. Students may only park in student parking spaces. Homework Center - Come to Homework Center and get a head start on your homework before going home or going to sports practice. Homework center is open 3:30pm-5:00pm, Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Bring your student ID card if you wish to check out a textbook. / M. Otoshi

Are you interested in law enforcement or wonder what police work is like? Want to go on a ride-along? The Sheriff’s Office runs a free, 12-week program that is designed to provide students with an inside look at the various aspects of law enforcement. Classes will be held on Thursday evenings, from 6-9pm, at Monta Vista High School. Applications are due no later than September 16. If you’re interested, see your Guidance Counselor for an application!
