PTSA Student Activity Grants

One of PSTA’s goals is to support our students in every aspect of the high school experience.  In recognition of how much co-curricular activities enhance and enrich this experience, the Lynbrook PTSA is offering grants to help student groups with their projects.

Is your club or group in need of financial help? Give us a proposal detailing your goals, projected expenses and the impact that you think your activity/competition/project will have.

Some criteria that will give your requests added weight in our deliberations:

  1. The project or activity benefits or provides a service to Lynbrook High School or the local community.
  2. Your group will be representing Lynbrook in a competition outside school.
  3. Your club is taking on the exploration of an area of interest not currently being addressed at Lynbrook – either academically or through extra-curricular programs.

While we expect to give out many smaller grants, there will be a cap of $500 per group per year.   Since our funds are limited, we will sometimes have difficult choices to make.   If your request involves multiple items, please break down the cost and indicate their priority.

Please be advised, also, that PTSA bylaws do not allow us to fund political campaigns or propaganda that attempt to influence legislation.  In keeping with the secular nature of our public schools, we will not fund any endeavors of an overtly religious nature.

Application Procedure

  • Download the Grant Application form here. Fill it out and email a copy to the address shown on the form.
  • Print a a copy of the Grant Application and ask your group’s advisor to sign it. Your application must be approved by your group’s advisor.
  • Submit the printed copy of the Grant Application form with your advisor’s signature to the PTSA mailbox in the administration office.
  • Applications must be complete, and both soft and hard copies of the application must be submitted in adequate time prior to the date for which funds are needed.
  • Grants must be approved by the PTSA Board before funds can be made available. Therefore, for optimum response time, please submit both versions of your application at least 10 days before the following PTSA meeting dates: December 1, January 5, February 2, March 2, April 6, and May 4. In most cases, if you meet the 10 day guideline, you will have an answer on the day after the meeting.
